Plainline Book an intro call

Too many loose ends? Let's pull them into one straight line.

Hi, I'm June Adeyemi.

I spent nine years running a kitchen with fourteen people and too many good ideas. Now I help other owners sort theirs.

More about June

Plain advice for owners of small businesses: decide what matters for the next 90 days, drop what doesn't, and get on with it. Everything written down. No slide decks.

Most owners arrive with a knot.

Nine blank sticky notes in a grid on a pale wall, the last one being pressed into place

Twenty good ideas, three worries, one inbox. The business is fine, mostly. But every week starts with a list that's longer than last week's, and you're the only one who can see all of it.

  • Should I raise prices or is that the wrong year?
  • I keep saying yes to jobs I don't want.
  • We need to hire. Or maybe we don't.
  • I haven't had a real day off since spring.

From tangled to clear

Here's what we do with the knot. Scroll, and watch it pull straight.

  1. Set the line

Week 1. One question first: where do you want the business to be in 90 days? We write the answer as a sentence you'd say out loud.

  2. Cut what doesn't serve

Week 2. Every project, meeting and promise is held against that line. If it doesn't pull toward it, it gets dropped, delayed or handed off.

  3. Shape the next 90 days

Weeks 3 to 12. What's left becomes a one-page plan: three priorities, who owns each, and what done looks like.

  4. Review

Day 90. We hold the page up against what really happened. Keep, cut, reset the line, go again.

A tangled line full of notes is pulled straight. Distractions are crossed out and drop away; the notes that matter are pinned under four points on the line. 1 2 3 4 What's this year for? A Clarity Session at the studio table.

What two and a half hours at the table look like

The Clarity Session is where every package starts. Bring the list in your head; leave with it on paper.

  1. 0:00
The tour. You talk, I listen and draw the knot. Everything on your mind goes on paper, the small things too.
  2. 0:40
The line. We agree on one sentence for the next 90 days. It usually takes three drafts.
  3. 1:20
The cut. Each item is kept, dropped, delayed or handed to someone else. You decide; I keep you honest.
  4. 2:10
The page. You leave with the first draft of the plan. Typed notes follow within two days.

I've been the owner with the long list.

Before Plainline, I ran a catering kitchen for nine years: fourteen people, two vans, and more good ideas than weekends. Then six years running operations for a small group of family shops.

I started Plainline because the owners I knew didn't need another framework. They needed a couple of hours with someone who would ask the plain question, wait for the real answer, and write it down.

  • I'll tell you when an idea should wait. Even a good one.
  • I write everything down, so you don't have to remember the meeting.
  • I'm not your accountant or lawyer. I'll say so when you need one.

I came in with eleven projects and left with three, and I could explain why. The other eight didn't fall apart. That was the surprise.

The one-page plan is taped inside my van door. We check it on Fridays.

Theo, runs a two-van plumbing business

Questions owners ask first

Do you work with my kind of business?

Probably. Most clients run service businesses, shops, kitchens, trades or small studios, with between 2 and 40 people. If yours is something else, ask on the intro call.

What happens on the free intro call?

Twenty minutes. You tell me what's going on, I ask a few questions, and we both decide whether a session would help. No pitch at the end. If it isn't a fit, I'll say so.

In person or by video?

Either. The studio is in Larkhaven, with coffee and a big table. Video works just as well; I'll share the page as we write it.

What if 90 days isn't enough?

Then we set the next line. Some owners do one plan a year, some move to monthly advisory. There's no long contract.

Is what I tell you kept private?

Yes. Notes are yours and stay between us. I'm happy to sign your confidentiality agreement before the first session.
